I just called the automated case information line and it said we were discharged and awaiting the closing order. That was quick! Our 60 days was up on Monday and we were discharged the next day! I can't tell you my relief! Looking back over the past 2 years, we have been like jugglers, trying to keep eveything up in the air. It got to the point, we just couldn't do it anymore.
The BK was the first step towards our new life and financial recovery. We have 5 loan modifications we are working on and will be setting up a plan with the IRS for back taxes. I'm not sure what the future holds for us (but I know it's going to be better than it was!). We will probably lose our primary residence (so upside-down I don't think any mod will make it worth keeping). Thankfully, we were offered a mod on one of our rental properties which will be finalized as soon as we send them our discharge papers. We plan to move into that house if we need to surrender our current house. If we get mods on the other properties that make sence, then great. If we don't, we will have to let them go. I'm ready to take things any way they come. At this point, I am so grateful we have been relieved of our non-secured debt (almost $300K, mostly business debt from our failed business) and we still have a roof over our heads. My priorities have changed and I'm ready to live a more simple (cash based) life. I truly feel blessed.
Thank you all for your openess, helpfulness and words of encouragement on this forum. It has been a lifesaver for me. And for those still in the process, hang in there and remember...your due time is scheduled.
