    Home Depot Cc thru Citi

I have a HD credit card that is financed thru Citicards. My balance is around 7800 (prob little more now with the late fees etc).

Does anyone have any experience with this creditor in BK?? I thought I read something about a mechanics lien on here. What is that and is this something they are known to do?
    Stopped paying CC: September 2009 ; Retained attorney: 9/9/2009; Filed Chap 7: January 18, 2010; 341 Meeting: March 9, 2010; Discharged and Closed: April 29, 2010

From the home repair that I've done, a mechanic's lien is when you hire a contractor to do work, then you don't pay them. They put a lien on your house, only really matters when you sell the house. With HD, I would think this wouldn't apply at all. Even if you hired HD to do work, they still sub it out to others. That's my two cents...
Met with and retained atty - 10/28/09
    341 Hearing - 1/13/10
    Trustee's report of no distribution! - 1/19/10

My step-father BK'd 2 HomeDepot Mastercard accounts - One was for $28,000ish and the other was for $14,000ish. His attorney waited six months after his last purchase to file Chapter 7 for them. No one showed up at the 341. He did have a generator purchase from last year that he thought for sure they would want, however, no request was made.

He was discharged September 1st, 2009.

Not quite as high as yours, but we did have other Citi cards with balances close to the $7K mark and we still didn't hear anything from them at all. Dh even took out a HD business CC (less than $3K balance tho) and didn't own a business ... we thought for sure we would hear something about that one but we didn't I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.. I'm sure you'll be fine

Home Depot, (or Lowes, or whoever), gets their money as soon as you pay on their card. The real lender in this case, is Citi, and they cannot place a mechanic's lien after the fact.

They are just another unsecured creditor.

We spent 7k today at Home Depot, for my dad in law, with delivery to my home address for some of the items.

They asked us if we wanted to apply for a HD credit card. We are 3 years past due on a HD card with all the same address info and SS number and so on. In our case, it was GE Money Bank, who are suing us. But as far as HD knows, nothing untoward has occurred. We are sparkling clean in their eyes, as long as we don't apply for a card, of course. The purchase was done in cash, with dad in laws money, to fix up his new home.
