After you surrender... what about next car?

After you surrender your vehicle(s)... and your carless.. Is it harder to get financing? Is it treated like a repo? We have plans on buying a 5-6K vehicle in a few months...but wonder if our rates will be 22%... but since it was part of our bk plan... Has anyone been through this? I am trying to think ahead and would like to finance a small amount so that I can get a small CL going.. in the right direction.

This is only my opinion. Until you get on your feet, cash is king. There is a glut of used cars out there and more will be coming. You can buy a good used car for less than 2K. I purchased three cherries. One we are driving now, an old police car for $800 bucks. Put tire on, alternator, battery, plugs, and good lube. Total cost about 1K. We have been driving it for four years. It only had 112K on it and is getting 28 mpg (Chev grand am 93). There are nice ones out there and I suggest a private party offer. Try Craigs list. News papers or (if you still have wheels) just drive around the neighborhood, you will see many with signs on them. People are dumping stuff for cash these days.

Thanks Hub.. I will look to see what I can find.. When we lost both cars, hubby's parents bought us a 10 yr old van (70K miles--think a granny drove it). We are making the pymt of 220 to the finance company. but once I start clinicals I will def need another vehicle (we need one but are making it work).
I know in the end if will all work out.. but I am a "planner & worrier"...lol

Planner is good. Worrier is not. More large problems are developed by worry over incidental little problems. There are two types of problems: Those you can do something about. So Handle them. Those problems you have no control over, so, don't worry, time will fix them.

That van sounds like a cherry. Ten years and 70K? Wow.

We purchased a Chrysler NewYorker 89 with 95K single owner non smoker. Everything worked on it. $1500. My god-daughter wrecked it. 'Hub

I know worrying is bad... but i do it naturally.. then when it starts to consume me I say something like its not gonna matter of i worry all day about this or not.. it is what is it...then i tend to cool down..lol

Yes the van is a cherry..lol Its funny (was 65K when we got it, but 70 now) in the user manual the lady wrote down each oil change, mileage, when brakes etc, was done... it was taken care of very well. now it has a ring when its idle but plan to get it taken care of..

I hope your goddaughter was okay... after the accident...sounds like a great car..
