But my post was totally tongue-in-cheek, I hope you understood.
I totally understood and am not mad at all.

I just didn't want anyone reading the post to think I was whining too much about my student loans. (which I was whining a little, I admit.... )

Hehe, I can relate... I have over 100k in student loans as well. I have 1 private student loan that is with a very small lending company that is actually based in VA where I live... I'm hoping that loan will be "forgotten" ... but I won't hold my breath. Its only 11k out of my 100k so, its kinda irrlevant... lol.

        I'm glad you understood.

And as stoic as you are, it would be really hard for anyone not to "whine" about a 100K loan that survives a BK.

I'm somewhat torn on the student loan dilemma.
On the one hand, I don't want the lenders to tighten their underwriting standards to the point where students can not get a loan to continue their education, but on the other hand, the system is treating these unsecured loans as secured.

          Backtoschool,

          Good posting to read!

You are planning to go into the public sector. I heard that the public sector doesn't count the BK as seriously as the private sector. (Because it's illegal and discrimination).

          Cross my fingers for you.

It's true. The loan is secured with my life.

But at least I have my overpriced education that prepared me for my wonderful wall street career that I abandoned in January.

Thanks so much mhman! I am looking forward to my new career. With the new income contingent loan repayment plan from direct loans, my loans will be forgiven in ten years if I stay in the public sector. Also, I will get to apply my skills to analyzing and solving social problems instead of creating financial modeling to make the rich richer.
