    Keeping a Credit Card

    Hello All,

Thanks for the help last time. I have a new queston.

    I had 341 09/29/09 and have a discharge dae of 11/30/09.

I had several credit cards issued by Citibank, including a Visa. The rest from Citibank were gas and store cards. One of them is Exxon, which has a zero balance but still included in the paperwork.

I've received telemarketing calls from Exxon twice since the 341 meeting. They are wanting to sign me up for an account protection program. Due to the purpose of their calls, I am assuming they have not closed my account. Should I close it or let it remain open and unused for a while? I wouldn't even consider keeping it except I live so far into the country I frequently need gas before I'm able to get to the bank.

    Keep it open.

If there is a type of card that even has a chance of staying open after BK, it's gas card (they charge such high interest rates anyway). However, I am willing to bet that if you go try to use it, it will be declined. Banks simply are not keeping charge accounts open after BK. But, hey, if this card survived, more power to you. Keep it open and try and use it after discharge and see what happens?

They do. We had a Unocal and a Mobil that were zero balance but they declined them within a few weeks after. I think they are owned by Citibank.
