Motion to extend Deadline to Object to the Dischargeability of Debt

I was looking at a case posted earlier in another thread and noticed that an AP was filed after the 60 days. After looking further into the petition, I noticed that this person's deadline was extended by the creditor. I realized the trustee and UST could do this but never realized that a creditor can do it to.

If this option is available to them, then what stops creditors extending everyone's case?

They can only get an extension for "cause" if the request was submitted within the 60 day period. There is no authority for the court to grant an extension if that 60 days has expired.
Filed Ch7 5/28/09 (Pro Se) Orlando, 341 7/01, UST selected case for audit 7/01, Last day for objection 8/31. Audit report filed 9/10, no material misstatements. Discharged and closed 9/22/2009

As posted, it has to be for cause. Simply stating "we need more time" is not cause. Additionally, the Creditor probably only received an extension to discharge for that particular debt and it didn't affect anything else. I haven't looked at the case, but there had to be cause for the extension, as mentioned.
      Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10
