Mortgage company still trying to modify my loan even though I filed ?

My mortgage company wachovia is still negotiating with me to modify my mortgage.
This is before and after I filed chapter 7.
Is this unusual ?
Should I put it on hold or continue the process ?
(Im trying to get my principle reduced 4%)

I tried to renogotiate with Wachovia on my Mortgage as I had property taxes come due and I don't have Escrow. It was after I filed and had my 341 meeting. They told me they couldn't talk to me until after I was discharged. This has forced us to make a decision to just let the house go. The house is about 80,000 upside down and we would have had to pay 4,000 in property taxes in October. We have already found a great Townhome to rent and the relief is unbelievable. If they are talking to you, I would say go for it and see what they offer. Good luck to you.
