    Recreation expense question

My daughter and I have in the past taken dog agility(dogs running through obstacle courses) lessons. I informed my instructor that I could not take them at least for a while because of not being able to afford them. She informed me to not worry about paying her for a while. We've used a barter system in the past to make up for when I've not been able to afford classes. I've also competed in the past and that costs money of course. I make no income off of competitions though. If I qualify I win one green ribbon and if I place 1st through 4th I get a second pretty ribbon, but nothing of value

So the question is, if I am not currently spending any money on classes and I'm not competing anymore at least until next year, is it something that I need to list when we complete our schedule J for recreation expenses?

We see the lawyer for our third consultation next tuesday and are scheduled to file Chapter 7 on 10/16/2009.

    Thanks in advance

Oh yeah, the classes were $20 per week(total) when I was paying for them. And a competition normally ran about $80 for a weekend but I normally enter like 8-10 shows in a year so it would come to maybe $70 a month for the competitions at most.

We put down $150 in recreation for a family of 6 in CO. It wasn't questioned. If you're worried, put $50. If you let us all know what state you're in, then you may get some better answers from folks in that state. Good luck with the BK.

What I'm asking really though is do we put down what we were spending for classes just a few weeks ago or what we are spending now(which is nothing currently)?

Oh, I see now. Assuming this is for schedule J, this is your expenses after bankruptcy. For instance, I put down a budget for clothing, even though I was spending very little on it pre-BK since we couldn't cover our bills, much less clothing. I would still put it down, but maybe think about your other expenses just in case this is questioned.

Ooh okay thanks! Yeah I fully intend on putting a budget for clothing and gifts etc that I was not able to afford in the past.

Update on the recreation expenses: the lawyer filled in $346 for entertainment/recreation/eating out etc. for us and said that it's just fine and that the trustee won't find any fault with my expenses. Guess we'll see soon enough.
