just discharged and past taxes

We were just discharged last week -yeah!!!

Today we received a letter from the state's tax dept of a state we don't live in anymore.

It says we owe back taxes from 2006

Since it was three years ago, could I send them the discharge letter and see if they will go away, or is this something my lawyer (who will charge me for it) needs to get involved with?

I think you're stuck with them if you didn't include them in the bk. Plus, I'm not sure if you can discharge STATE taxes in a ch 7.
