First, I want to say thanks for all the info and comments people have shared on this forum. Super stuff.

So I am comitted to makin the jump and filing..........the sooner the better.
However, I am pinched for dinero and although I am current on all my bills now, it looks like I will have to reneg on some bills to pay for the filing.
Will this reflect poorly on me in the courts eyes as the process moves forward?

One more thing...........where can I find this means test??

i dont think not paying will matter one bit, in any circumstance i can imagine.

the longer you dont pay, the more money you have.

if anything, being current on your bills is a problem in the court: if you can pay your bills why are you filing? But let's hear others with more knowledge than me weigh in on that.

depending on states exemption laws, you might have to surrender some or all of your left over money later. in CA, you would need a huge heap of money and property before you had to surrender anything though. so not paying for as long as possible is usually always the rational course.

it feels wierd though, i know. i just stopped paying bills this month for the first time in my life and it feels wierd.

It's pretty standard to stop paying all credit cards and any secured loans you intend on surrendering. They wont squeal too loudly in the next few months while the papers are being prepared and filed.

First though, you'll want to find an Attorney you want to work with.

Thanks! I got a lawyer......seems like he is got his head screwed on straight. But like anything that has to do with money.........you got to have some first.

It is a real hard thing for me to do is to reneg on payment.....regardless of the circumstance. Just have been always squared away with my finances since I had my first job at 10 yrs old. But being a Disabled Vet, Goin through a divorce (again!! When will I learn??) No Job.........Blah Blah Blah! yall have heard that song I am sure.

Will feel better when I have filed!! I look at it as adventure???
