How much debt did you/will you discharge?

What's the average? My cc debt alone is embarassingly high, just wondered what is typical.

Total debt, $1.M (secured and unsecured) of which $149k was unsecured, filed alone.

I now have savings and zero debt, except for the last bit of debt which is my husbands vehicle. I reaffirmed his car and there is $3800 remaining which will be paid off in 8 mths! I could pay it tomorrow but it is more important for me to have money in my emergency fund then to pay off his car early. I bought a used 2002 SUV in Jan and finished making the payments last mth (Aug). I am still in my house that I surrendered until the final judgment (per my attorney's advise) so I took that opportunity to save a little and to pay off my IRS installment loan for past due income taxes. That loan was completely paid off last week! I am making the most of my fresh start!

Don't be embarrassed about your amount of debt, just take advantage of your fresh start and don't carry the debt thru! Make a plan and save some money!

          Roughly $250k.

Mortgage/HELOC is about $230k, credit cards about $25k.

I'm currently earning less than $40k per year so there is no way I could pay that off before the age of, say, 90!

I am not a big fan of these threads, they don't really help anyone.
