Finally met with Atty. and file time!

She is great. Made my nerves settle. She just kept assuring us, this is her job. Nothing in our paperwork gave her cause for concern, and we agreed to get through October and November billing cycles, and file mid-November.

We are well below the means test, and she feels all should go smoothly and we are ready for a fresh start.

She told us we did not need to pay her until we file, but we did, just to get it out of the way. It was pretty much the last of our savings anyway.
She told us that the calls will start to come, and to send everyone her way.

I can not believe the stack of cc bills that I have accumulated this month. Still scary to not pay them... but its all for the better cause, my FAMILIES security, and not the credit cards.

Best news, the $500 I had megearly saved to pay cc bills can now go to getting the gas leak in our van fixed... I'm starting to like this whole cash thing!
    Filing cpt.7 11/09 341- 1/21/10
    Report of no distribution 1/21/10
Scheduled for discharge 3/22/10 (on my 15th wedding anniversary!)

We did much the same as you and paid while we had the money.
Be aware though that creditors can call you until you file and they get notified.
When we filed and got the case number we emailed the information to all our creditors. It stopped all from calling except one that needed just a little further education as to how the process goes.

Yeah, I glad to hear that you got an attorney that you are comfortable with....
Was there any reason to have to wait to file until Nov?

we waited to file so we could be a few months out from some larger transactions.. plus hubbys pay scale is changing in October, and we wanted to include some of those paystubs.

Sounds like you made a wise choice. We did the same thing, we paid our attorney while we had the money, didn't want that hanging over our heads. Make sure you take advantage of her accepting creditors calling. We sure did and it basically stopped the calls, even without a case number, they left alone for months at a time. I always told them the attorney's name, phone number and what Chapter. It was fine, no one got nasty with me either.

          Good luck!

Gotcha. Sounds like your attorney knows what s/he is doing Also, I agree with 'justplaintired', send all the calls to the attorney's office. Once I gave all my creditors the info (I didn't have a case number yet), they stopped calling, every once in a while I would get a call when the account changed hands.

Yep. Mine did too. Although we turned the phones off too. The only one that wouldn't take attorney's number was Amex. Once I had a case number, then they said "Sorry to see you go, you've been a customer since 1987". Yeah right, they weren't so sorry when they raised my interest!
