    Extension for creditor - "cause"

Creditor (former spouse) filed for request for extension of time to object on the last day to object. Why he didn't just file an objection I am not sure, but regardless. My attorney responded with a request to deny extension.
Hearing is this week. The statute says for "cause" the judge can grant the request for an extension.... what would valid cause be? I looked up the judges hearings for the entire week and this is the only creditor request for an extension. My attorney said this is not a common requst and he has only had one request for this previously (and he has been practicing quite a long time) and that was the department of justice. I am sick with anxiety. Creditor had 120 days knowledge of bankruptcy and did not attend 341. More to it, but I am wondering if anyone knows what would be considered valid cause for extension. Chapter 7 no asset case. Thanks!

whatever the cause, it should have been stated in the request for extension. if you are not sure why he didn't just file an objection, then probably the "cause" was not very convincing, at least to you (assuming you received a copy and read it).

let your lawyer handle it and relax. if there is something about this former spouse that you know that may be useful to your lawyer to know at the hearing, then tell him. other than that, let the lawyer worry.

i think a valid cause would be if they didn't know about your filing in time (not the case) or if they were gravely ill.

Music is playing just right. The motion MUST state cause. Relax.
