i am LOVING answering the calls now, with case number in hand. My attorney told me he takes pleasure in talking to harrasing creditors. I agonized for a year over whether to file, when i did yesterday, it was so simple, and i felt a sense of relief. I know there is more to come, but for anyone considering their options, a very good attorney is a must. Spend the money, borrow from friends, whatever you need to do, but get a good attorney. It is the best investment you'll make

I couldn't agree more on the attorney part. We had one who took all our calls, and that made our process so much easier to deal with. I feel good about our choice. When we went to our 341 and the trustee and our attorney seemed to be friends, I knew we did alright with our choice. So, as kw1025 said, find a good attorney, don't look at the price or a fancy office as the deciding factor either, our attorneys office wasn't the fanciest, or in the very best location, he wasn't located in a big city, he wasn't dressed like a movie star, but he knew all the BK laws, knew what was good and what was bad, he told us straight up what we needed to do, and he wasn't the cheapest and wasn't the most expensive (little overhead for his office! LOL).Filed Chapter 7 June 4 ~ 341 July 20 ~Last day of objections Sept 18~Discharged/Closed Sept 21

Yes it really is amazing. I have to admit, I have not had one creditor (and I have a bunch) that has called since I gave them the information. It's nice to sit through dinner and the phone not ring.
I have been getting a lot of letters stating they know I filed, and a statement or two is still straggling in, but I know that will cease with time.New Orleans: Home to the World Champion Saints, the biggest enviromental disaster and the biggest natural disaster in the history of this nation. Proud to call it home!

I just got some statements after I filed as well. University of Phoenix has been relentless on ragging on me. My Matrix had like 130 letters included in the mailing. They mailed 3 letters to the University of Phoenix letting them know of my bankruptcy filing. After I received the invoice about 3 weeks after I filed, I called UoP and asked them about it. I gave them my IRN # and the girl stated I had a $0 balance. I was like YAHOOOOOOOO!! IT WORKED!!
My mortgage company also sent me a letter. I called and asked why. They told me it was just a statement to keep for my records and not to pay anything.

I am not an attorney. None of my advice is legal advice in any way..

My attorney did not attend my 341. He had one of his paralegals there to handle it. I don't really see any reason for him being there. The paralegal barely said a word. All she did was hand the UST our paperwork and then he quickly glanced at it. You don't need some expensive lawyer there to do that. If something serious happens, then my attorney will get involved.
I haven't heard a peep from any of my creditors. It feels SO WEIRD not to have any phone calls after all this time. Only a couple statements came in the mail and that was it. None of them were real attempts to collect a debt.
Talk about relief! I'm loving it!

I took one week of classes until I did some Googling and found TONS of horror stories about them on RipOffReport.com. That's when I decided it was a waste to go there.
I tried to shut down the company giving the loan but they beat me to it and took out the money. They refunded part of the money and left me owing $700 which can't be discharged. Then the rest went back to owing to the school themselves. By law I had to show all debts, so I included both on there.
I called University of Phoenix to check my balance and they told me I owe them nothing now.
