I wish you the best of luck but quite a few posters raised a number of crucial points.
On a side note, not that I am judging but paying for a girlfriends child to attend private school does raise an eyebrow. Particularly if the kids biological parents are not paying for it. A don't believe a court would side with you on that expense.

FWIW, per our atty, if the minor child is not claimed as a dependent on another's taxes you may be able to claim him/her in the means test if you provide support. What's the chance you are "common law married"? Here is AL it can happen scarily fast.
