CRAP! New Credit Union merging with old Credit Union I bk'd on

So I filed bk on a credit card at my credit union. I kept my share account open and opened a new account with a different credit union. So today I receive a letter in the mail from my old credit union telling me they are merging with the new credit union. Does anybody think I have anything to worry about?

What else stinks about this is one of the reasons I liked the new credit union is they will let you open a secured visa with no credit check. I'm waiting for my bk to be discharged and I was going to do that just to have a card for travel. I'm sure they won't let me now though

No. Your former CU was notified about your bankruptcy. They cannot try to collect now on a debt included in your filing - it would be a direct violation of your automatic stay.

You are right - being declined now for the secured visa is a real possibility since you discharged debt owed to the first CU when you filed. Time will tell.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I have the same thing happening. I have my car financed (outside my CH13 plan) with one credit union that is merging with my other credit union with a visa that is included in my CH13 plan. I'm hoping I don't have any issues getting my title once the car is paid off.
