Anyone include owed copay and medical deductibles?

The hospital never came around and asked me for my copay or deductible, so I am assuming that they will send me the bill. Im curious what happens if you do not pay the copay or deductible, and instead include the amount into your creditor matrix.

I dont want to be dropped from my insurance plan, or receive a large bill from the hospital.

Anyone have any experiences with this?

You should be able to include the whole amount in your bankruptcy. Your health insurance is not going to drop you because you included your portion of the debt in BK.

We have not received the hospital bill from when Dh was in the hospital in April; however, we have received the EOB from the insurance company and it shows we owe $1,695.12. I owe a Surgery Center $229.45 and a Breast Center $250.00. There is no way we have the funds to pay this nor could we pay the hospital more than $600 as we are filing next month. I just paid over $600 worth of Dh's other bills pertaining to his hospital stay, but it was to various Radiology, Pathology & a Nephrologist.

Yes, I am listing them because our BK Attorney told us we had to list ALL debts. I've talked to the Surgery Center and will set up a payment plan after BK and also the Breast Center. I don't know about this hospital as we've never used them before even though they are the closest hospital to us.

With my twin sister having Breast Cancer I cannot afford to take the chance they will not see me at the Surgery Center or Breast Center. We can use other hospitals if they are not willing to work with us.

I have a PM Appt. next week and co-pay is $35. If I pay with check it will not clear by 8/31/09, so I'm going to withdrawl $35 in cash from our checking account.

Sorry, don't know what happens after BK when medical bills are included. Hope someone has experience with this issue. That's right, your insurance will remain the same.

Yep, we included doctor visits that weren't covered 100% by our insurance and also hospital ER bills. Dh had an ER bill of $4500 so there was no way we were going to forget that bill when we were adding them to the matrix. Also, you're suppose to include ALL monies owed to people/places. Don't forget you can always pay any bills you want after your BK is final.

Primary care providers and hospitals do not refuse services if you have BKed on a balance with them. Specialists, chiropractors, dentists, etc. can all refuse service.

We had medical bills left over from 'Hub's prostate cancer surgery in 2004, and had been making regular payments until the amount got down to around $500, at which point the provider got rude and nasty and threatened court action. So we told them where they could go and the best route to take to get there.

Then we both had medical bills from accidents in 2007; mine in August and his in November. Since the insurances and the co-pays and all were still sorting themselves out when we filed, Dec. 28, 2007, we had no amounts to put in the boxes. The attorney put a placeholder of $1.00 in each spot with the notation that the actual amounts would be adjusted later. The only actual amount we put down was the total from the 2004 bill.
