    First new credit offer! - how about you?

    UNBELIEVABLE. First post-filing credit card offer arrived yesterday 8-18-09 for a VISA $500-1500 limit at 18% interest and outrageous fees. Just filed 8-6-09. Who hoo! Spending spree!!! Yes, let's jump on that and bury ourselves right away. No, I think I'll take my chances without, thank you.

    Just curious, how soon/what kind of offers others got after filing. I find this pretty amusing (hey, you have to laugh, right?)

    Yeah, didn't take long for them to start showing up in our mailbox. Those and car financing offers.

        I swear to god we must have received at least a hundred offers to come buy a car. No CC offers though.

          I have received three car financing offers. Co cc's but I think I am opted out on my credit reports.

            I've received one credit card offer, the fees were OUTRAGEOUS...it went straight to the shredder...
            May 2008 Hired 1st Attorney/Stopped paying CCs
            May 21, 2009 Retained 2nd Attorney
            May 28th - Filed for Ch 7 (FINALLY!)
            9/11/09 - DISCHARGED!!!!

              If you don't mind what kind of offers did you get on your car offers?

              04-2010:Hired 2nd Attorney;05-2010:Filed 7
              06-2010:341 Meeting (went very well)
              08-24-2010: Discharged; 09-02-2010 Closed!!

                  Creditors and car dealers sit like vultures and get the names of discharged folks to bombard them with credit offers which usually have high fees and rates although that won't be indicated on most of the advertising first received. You will find out when/if you inquire. Everyone gets them - it's because you filed BK and it is public information and you are debt free...they now want your extra money. Rip up those offers and recycle the paper. Best advice I can give anyone as to those offers. We even received vacation/cruise offers/brochures.

                    The car offers I get don't have terms. They say things like "WE SPECIALIZE IN BANKRUPTCY FINANCING, CALL FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT TODAY" Some of them include fake checks.

                    Bleh. I'm loving the bus and my bike right now.

                      Took about 6 months and it started with a trickle, Now i get something everyday....... Glad i got a new shredder.........
