Tom, that's a lesson some learn on their way to bankruptcy isn't it? You sound awfully judgmental for a guy that ended up on the same website as me.

Regardless, as I said, we bought an 03 Expedition for less that$10k and it fits everyone and works for us in these northern winters.

Al, Chrysler's intentions were quite clear from the verbiage of the filing - they wanted the car back. I was all too happy to watch it go. We had more trouble with that car than it was worth and the payment was way too high to support our "fresh start".

Shabam, I have to agree. Unless I look at that paper and it's very clear (not a bunch of legalese) they can shove it. They'll have the car, that's all they need. If they want to be a PITA, they can hire a repo guy to come find it...I'm already bringing it to them. From my discussion with the guy at Chrysler, he seemed pretty pleased I was willing to do that.

Thanks to all for the advice and support.

Just dropped it off. I signed the paper, it just said I'm giving them back their collateral, nothing in it is mine, I didn't "strip it" and they have the rights to the vehicle now.

Big sigh of relief to have that payment gone...now I'm just (impatiently) awaiting discharge so I can get on with my life.
