Nothing like what I expected. I called my lawyer this morning to touch base as he said, he said he won't be there but 'Amanda' will be, (whoever that is).
So I got there 1/2 hour early, it was a room full of about 10 boring looking people, I sat by the door, an older couple sat 4 seats down.
I sat there for about 5 minutes and wondered about how this was going to go.
Then the most beautiful woman I seen all day walked in, great I'm not thinking of bk anymore. She walked to the board on the wall, walked to the front of the room and grabbed some papers, THEN WALKED BACK TO ME!
She was MY paralegal
She was also the older couples paralegal and another guy that came in.
As we sat the older couple was talking to her, she mentioned she got married last year, dang, there went my dinner plans. I mean what paralegal (who happens to be the lawyers daughter) wouldn't go to dinner with a guy who just claimed bankruptcy
Not necessarily a good thing because when my name was called we walked into the trustees room, everyones eyes were following her. It sure took my mind off things. So much as to when I sat down with the trustee I got a little long winded.
All he wanted was my DL and SS card. Asked if I understood the paperwork and read it all before signing. He asked about the car I sold, I forgot everything I rehearsed in my mind and maybe gave a long answer. He also asked me something about anyone owing me money, I said no, then interrupted the next question and told him I'm trying to get my money back from that other lawyer. 'Amanda' was flipping through pages in my file at that point. I guess I should have said something to her about that in the meeting room, somehow I forgot
Anyway the trustee asked what I paid for, I paid for services rendered for a chapter 13.
He asked if that lawyer did any paperwork, why yes he did. Trustee said then I'm probably not getting a full refund if I get anything. Slick move on that a-hole for ignoring my repeated requests to stop working on my case.
I was about to tell him that I told the guy to not work on my case and he ignored me, but I figured it is what it is, that lawyer screwed me and thats that. So I didn't say anything else about it.
This guy is like a robot, no emotion, a few times I didn't know if he was talking to me or the recorder. Like, I thought he said he's abandoning interest in my 1992 hooptie, and my 2001 box chevy bro-ham. LOL.
Ok goodbye. I was lost, but that gained me more time to talk to 'Amanda' when she was done with everyone else.
The guy after me, I overheard while waiting, was reaffirming a car and doing other stuff, he was in there with the trustee not even 3 minutes.
When everyone was done I talked to my paralegal again, yes he did say he has no interest in anything I own. And it'll be 60-90 days until I get the discharge letter in the mail.
Then me, 'Amanda', and the older couple walked down to the free valet parking and got in our cars and drove off.
I noticed 'Amandas' car as one sitting in the lawyers office, I ended following her a good way down the interstate on the way home so I thought I should back off and go slow before she thinks I'm stalking her
I don't really feel relieved or anything maybe when the discharged papers are in my hand and the case is closed.
