Hi apb739: Welcome to the Forum......a bit late aren't you???? Tsk,tsk,tsk....

To answer your question, the Discharge is the important thing. From that date, your debts have been negated.

Close means that all the behind-the-scenes administrative stuff is finally finished and now the case is therefore CLOSED.

Were you ruled an Asset case? If you are an Asset case, closure usually takes longer. We are an Asset case and were Discharged 8/13/2008. We are now past the one year anniversary, and still not closed..but it is inching closer.

I am late! This site is awesome and I wish would have found it sooner. My case was an Asset case.

There is of course more to my story for my filing…but I got screwed by a toll road and my home/property. I was forced to file to avoid a deficiency judgment in a foreclosure. It was a preemptive strike.
