I got this parking ticket issued by the city.Damn, just 2 days ago. What happens if I dont pay it before I leave the state/country? 50 bucks can accrue with interest? What will happen to my driving record? What repercussions can happen? If I wait and pay next July when i am back in town, will it hurt to pay then?I may file BK 7 next year.
Save yourself the hassle and money and pay the parking fine NOW. That $50 parking fine will likely by $300 this time next year. As for other reprecussions, that is really too specific a questions because it will depend on state law.
The fine doubles after 30 days in most cases. I just got one and was wondering when the cutoff to pay before doubling is and got my little notice in the mail. Paid it right away even though it ticks me off I had paid the meter and got caught in a situation at work where I couldn't run out to fill it again or move the car. Cost me $50 to work that day. Grrrr.
If you don't pay it after 90 days they can impound your car. TRUST me on this one! My car got impounded in the beginning of my bk journey over two unpaid parking tickets and it cost me $1000 to get it back. They can suspend your registration renewal and another state may not register your vehicle until the tickets in previous states are paid.
