when can I move and get better job

Hi everyone,my 341 meeting is scheduled for sept 4. I want to leave the state I currently live in and get a better paying job to start rebuilding my life after bankrupycy. The paralegal at my attorney says that I can relocate after the 341 meeting. Is this correct? I would think it would be better to wait til discharged to move. Also, how long after 341 can I go to a better paying job? Do I need to wait fro discharge for this too? Thanks in advance for our help.

my dh got a "better" job offer and our atty told us to either cash his first couple checks out as cash or to time the first check to be direct deposited after the 341...but after the 341 we can do what we want....he started two weeks ago and has gotten two checks...one was a partial and one was full..our 341 is Tuesday...our atty said not to worry about it.

Yes, this is correct. However, unless there's a very compelling reason to move before your Ch 7 is discharged and closed, then why do it? Assuming your Ch 7 is an uncomplicated one, it's just a few months. Although it shouldn't matter, it's possible that finding housing in a new location could be more difficult while in an active Ch 7. Also delaying the move until you can save up some cash for the move and ensure you have a new job at the new location first would make the move a lot less stressful. Just my $0.02.

Your bankruptcy estate was set on the day you filed Ch 7. After your 341 is over, you can get a better paying job without a problem.

Thanks for the input folks.Compelling reason to move is that I can double my current income and am currently barely able to get to work and eat each week. Housing has already been secured in new locale already.
