    Where do I find these laws? I did a google search for foreclosure laws in virginia and I didn't really find much useful info aside from the 60 day window you mentioned.

    And sorry for hijacking the thread...but I believe the questions I'm asking will help the OP too!

      We have our appliances and furniture in our house. To sell it we would get pennies on the dollar, but to replace it would cost thousands of dollars. I would rather not have a lock put on the door. The bank told me that they would secure the property if I was not there. I really can't afford to move the stuff. I just got paid and am already down to $1400 to live on for the next 30 days after we paid a bunch of bills and school for my wife.

        That's where it gets very State-specific and you have to actually read the underlying Statutes on foreclosure for your State. I only learned about North Carolina because I took the time to peruse the Statutes.
