I'm not sure why you would not have surrendered your vehicles before filing & financed something that you could afford after your BK Ofcourse you could have easily done a ride thru on it & then if you later changed your mind surrendered it too. If I read your situation right, aren't you spending a LOT of $$ on attorney fee's to be able to keep your cars a little longer?? That $ could have been a deposit on something else to drive.

I never surrendered mine. Supposedly I will be able to have these things for several months. But according to the people on here, I could have them taken from me in as little as 6 weeks from the time I filed from the banks getting a life on the automatic stay.
I'm not spending any extra money on my attorney to keep my cars. That's all incorporated into his fees.
The money I am wanting to save for the deposit is why I need to keep these cars for as long as possible. If I can save $1,000+ per month for 6 months, that's $6,000 extra I'll have to put down. If they take them in a month, that only leaves me $1,000 or so to put down. You can't finance a pack of bubble gum with only $1,000 after a bankruptcy discharge. I'll need to come up with a hell of a lot more than that. If I can just hold on to these suckers until late January or late February, I will hopefully have good news to post on here!
I am guessing that everyone here will be right and by late next month, they will be wanting my cars back.

In addition to the hefty monthly car note and insurance premiums for full coverage, I had to shell out thousands to fix it because I still had a couple of years of payments to go. That is not normal maintenence. Your worst fears of mechanical failure can happen on any car new or used.
Vans are a major headache to maintain. That's another reason I don't want one.
Just stick with like-new cars or brand new ones. Put Amsoil coolant and oil in them and call it a day. I've probably owned well over 20 cars in my life and the only ones that had the problems you're talking about are the beater cars I bought.
Just try to buy cars that have a top track record. If the used car you buy has a good track record with JD Power & Associates, then take the risk and buy it.
