I remember reading about people getting all kinds of offers in the mail right after filing. Well, we're getting close to 2 weeks after my filing and so far not one single offer from any car dealer has come up or anything of the sort.
Do some people get offers right after filing while others only get offers right after discharge?
In my other posts I talked about my attorney trying to keep me in our cars as long as possible. But we have to be prepared in the event he's full of it and can't deliver on his offer. So if worst comes to worst and our cars are taken away from us within 6 weeks of filing from the banks getting a lift on the automatic stay, then I am wondering how we will replace our cars. Don't all the car dealers want to see "DISCHARGE" on your credit report before selling you a car? If you file on January 1st and by February 20th your cars are taken and you're not expected to see a discharge until say March 7th, then how can you finance a new or used car? Then you're stuck for several weeks or a month or so with no car.
What have people here done about this during that small period of time between having no car and the discharge date? How did you get around?
We have 2 cars now, but I only plan on having one car for a while after both are taken. I have no need for 2 cars right at the moment. We just need one for grocery store and errand runs. But I want to buy a car that I will keep for 7 to 10 years, so I don't want to throw money into a beater car that will cost thousands to fix transmissions and the air-condition. I want something like a 2007 or 2008 model.
