Lexington Law 1 Year After Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?

    Hi All,

I am new to the forum and had a question regarding Lexington Law firm. It has been one year since I filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I have hired Lexington Law to work on cleaning up my report by disputing various items on my report with the three credit bureaus. My question is is this a good way to start the credit repairing process if I do not have the time to do it myself? Also is there any other steps that I should be taking to proactively increase my score? (i.e. secured credit cards)

    Thanks

I've never heard of "lexington law", but I'm just curious, how much did they charge you to "fix" your credit? Did you have a lot of disputed claims on your credit report?!?
Paying your bills ON TIME will be your best bet for repairing your credit history. You can also get one of those un/secured credit cards (watch out for FEES!) to help you re-estatblish your credit.
    Good Luck!

P.S. there is a section dedicated to "rebuilding credit after BK", that should give you some new ideas.

i think Lex Law just basically goes dispute crazy with your credit reports. They don't do anything you can't do yourself. I have even heard of people getting their credit files frozen or fraud alerts put on them, or not allowed to dispute legitimate disputes because the CB deems them frivilous and marks your CR as using a credit repair company.

try www.creditboards.com for a lot of advice on credit repair.

Everything Lex Law does, you can easily do yourself for free.

I don't understand if you filed BK a year ago, why you need a credit repair place to help you. Haven't your debts all been discharged?

                Actually...

I am new to the board so I posted in the wrong section the first time. If I made no sense it is probably because I'm not as savvy as some of the obviously more intelligent human beings accessing forum. The that I chose to use Lexington Law after my bankruptcy is reason because after speaking with one of their consultants, they advised me that I could begin to have the accounts that were "included in the bankruptcy" deleted by disputing them one by one. Apparently they made it seem as though this would boost my score. They also advised me that once the accounts had been deleted they could then attemot to have the actual bankruptcy removed. While I am not sure how effective their service is I just wanted to see if it can be helpful in any way.

How these companies work is basically simple...if you dispute accounts on any of your credit reports, they remove the disputed items while they are investigating your dispute. Places like Lexiington Law dispute on a periodic basis (say monthly) to attempt to keep the account off your credit report. What eventually happens is that you are out of a lot of money paying these places to dispute items which will eventually reappear on your credit reports either after you wise up and stop the service or if the CRA's catch on as to what is going on and advise your disputes are "frivilous" and advise you to contact the creditors directly as they are reporting correctly to the CRA.

So they say they can remove BK's from your credit reports but that sentence should include the word "temporarily".... They cannot remove the BK from the creditor themselves on the creditor's own records nor can they remove the BK from the public records. They want your money - they are in business to make money and will tell yiou anything. Research any place like this thoroughly before even thinking about utilizing their services. People that say how great Lexington Law or other places are are plants in forums to sell the product...they get paid for posting in forums to drum up business by saying how well the service worked for them.
