I was overjoyed. I called the automated number shortly after to "check" on the card and hmm "account number not recognized, please re-enter your account number". So, I talked to a specialist and they said oh yea that account is closed. And I'm like huh? And they said they closed it cause of bankruptcy. I asked them about the letter they sent me...he said what's the date on that letter? I told him and he said "oh I'm showing that on the day after that letter we sent you another letter saying that it was closed". I of course never got the second letter.

So, in my head I swore I could hear that horrible music they play when someone plays a trick on you... that wah wah wah wah.
Truthfully, I think it's just a matter of time before they are all closed out. My Macy's Visa expires 4/2010 so it's a very good possibility that they may close it then, if not sooner.

In the meantime, I applied and was approved for an unsecured Capital One Visa with a $1,000 limit so even if the Macy's Visa is closed, I can transfer my cable bill to that.

It was a re-enactment, and was not a good one, at that. For instance, the lawyer did all the talking. In real life, the trustee and the debtor would do all the talking.

Well yes I agree with you...but to send me a letter saying I get to keep it and then meanly taking it away...that's just even worse.

Those damned Indian Givers. File a complaint with the B.B.B. letting them know how mean they were to you.

But you have to list all debts on the bankruptcy petition, even cards that are current, did you not do that?

So apparently the Feds have changed the rules on that. I thought since 9/11no phones were allowed in USDC.
When I went for my 341 in July at the federal building, the guards confiscate your phone going in and give it back going out.

Yes, but they showed balances. Maybe that's why the court notified them. Maybe if they had a ZERO balance, I could have gotten lucky.

                        Fat chance.

Oh well, not the end of the world. I won't lose sleep over it.

Cool. You didn't lose sleep on it neither, did you?

I was just out thinking today what a relief it is to have filed. It's like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders. It would have taken me a lifetime to pay off all that debt, literally. I feel like it was short-circuited and the debt was wiped off... well, maybe not yet, legally (since no judge has discharged it yet), but it still has the same feeling. It's SO WEIRD to open my mail box and not have a single bill in there now. Normally I was getting slammed with bills from collection agencies all over. Now I get absolutely nothing. It's going to be a while until I can get used to that. My whole life I've been accustomed to having a mailbox jammed with bills for creditors.

I was lucky to get 1 phone call per month. Remember, I moved around a lot and changed my phone # so many times, they couldn't keep up. By the time they would get my current phone #, I would move again.

I don't know how long I will be here until I move to another state. But this time no creditors will follow.
