If I put the HOA in my bankruptcy will they take the lien off my house or can they keep it on?

It's my understanding any debt or liens created due to the debt can be removed if the occurred before filing.
However it gets kinda of tricky if you intend to stay in the home and not pay the hoa fees. Which if your asking for a lien release sounds like you want to stay. It's on of those you don't have to pay them, but they don't have to like you for it situations3/2/09- Filed: chapter 7 / No asset

You can discharge HOA back dues from before filing. But that often implies that you are leaving the property.3/2/09- Filed: chapter 7 / No asset
