    Online Access Confusion

Can someone please help me understand what is meant by that.

I have read on here that once you file for BK, that you lose all online access and must pay the bills via mail.

Does that mean I just lose the access at the credit card companies web sites? Or does that mean I can no longer use my bill pay service (through my bank) to pay the bills. I assume creditors would still accept payment (on the items I am paying like the cars and house).

I do not owe my bank anything and do not have any credit with them, so hopefully they will not be notified of the BK filing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The credit card companies, mortgage, and car loan companies will lock you out of their own online banking system but you can still use your personal bank's online bill pay service to pay bills. Before making payments you should contact the creditor to see if the address has changed.

I filed last month and Chase mailed me a new address to use if I want to "voluntarily" make mortgage payments. They said they will not accept payments sent to the previous address.

      Ok, that makes sense then.

      Thanks for the clarification.

I had the same thing happen with Verizon Wireless.

Apparently most of the larger companies use a different address when you are in bankruptcy, so check with each one for the correct address that you desire to continue to pay during the bk.
