    Bankruptcy Attorney

We will be filing Bankruptcy in the next few weeks. We are really in need of a good Attorney in the Newnan, LaGrange or Columbus area of Georgia. If you have a good one you can recommend, please private message me. I am also willing to go to Atlanta for a very good Attorney. We want to file Chapter 7 but might be put in a 13 instead.

    Thanks,

Other reliable sources for good attorneys is to call the Georgia bar association and ask for referrals. Also check to see if any of your local bankruptcy court trustees take personal cases (many do). Last (but not least), ask family and friends if they've done business with any lawyers lately (say you are asking for "a friend" ). Even if they don't do bankruptcies, due to the 'lawyer old boys network', they know who the good bk attorneys are in town.

None of these methods (or PMs from members) guarantee you'll get a good lawyer. Do your homework to understand both chapters, then use your free initial interviews to see which lawyer is going to do the best job representing you.

Good luck - hope you find a great lawyer!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

    06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
    06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
    07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
    09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
    08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

    10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

I suggest you use a backruptcy lawyer.

Think of it this way.....if you heart problems you would not go to your primary doctor.

I think you go with the specialist in whatever your problem is so you get the best care and the most educated in that field.

So, look ofr a bankruptcy firm that knows the bankruptcy rules.

Just my opinion, I am sure others would disagree though.

Another good resource is www.nacba.org. The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. This is a professional association of attorneys for whom bankruptcy is a large part of their practice.
Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.
