Many of these off brand products are made by the same company making the quality items you use.

I've tried off-brand products, don't get me wrong. But when I eat Chips-A-Hoy versus Sams-A-Hoy, there is definitely a taste difference. I don't like the Sam's product, so I don't buy it. Cookies aren't the only area in which the off-brand product has not passed my quality standards. We buy off-brand pop-tarts from time-to-time and the kids won't eat them. Same with instant Oatmeal (Quaker versus off-brand). I tried, but they just won't eat it... neither will I.

Also. things like bleach are bleach regardless of the label and your whitey tighties will come out nice and clean. I'm disappointed there isn't an off-brand of He detergent available.

I wholeheartedly agree on the "He" stuff. I can't find much of it outside the Tide product and it's very expensive. As far as Bleach, you could have different balances of the ingredients, so while I think bleach is probably the same regardless, there are other products that just don't match.

Wal-Mart does not derive profits from pricing. They derive profit by setting the selling price they are willing to pay the suppliers. Nobody wants to be shut out of the Wal-Mart market.

Well, I'll only add that Wal*Mart is based on volume pricing. Whether the supplier wants to play or not... is part of the formula. It's a true pay-to-play (or should I say reduce-to-play) system.

When I used to work at a retail store, it was nothing but a big pyramid. I would earn a commission. Then my manager would make a commission of my sales. Then the store manager would make a commission based on what the whole store made. All of those middle people making money as your upline. It's all a scam no matter how you look at it.

They just need to make it so everyone can buy from the manufacturers DIRECTLY with no middle man... just like when you can go to a flea market and buy from the people who who make arts and crafts and what not.

The auto salesperson can walk at anytime without risk of lost capital. Once you buy your DEMO supply of Amway products for your in-home parties you have quite a bit at risk.

The vendor had to pay for the paints and pieces of wood used to make their craft. Those people had to buy raw materials to produce those products. Some farmer, logger or miner had to get the raw materials ready for use....

I don't like the Pop-Tarts that have the sugar coating on top. I prefer the "plain" ones, like classic Strawberry, Brown Sugar, and the new Cinnamon.

Why not? Education is always good. I'm not knocking that. I'm just saying it's an investment with no guarantee, just like when you invest into an MLM or any kind of business.
