How much do I disclose?

I moved to Idaho a few months ago but I filed Ch 7 in Washington. I'm still waiting for my case # but the attorney is finally paid off. My boyfriend and I are looking for a small apartment to rent and, of course, most of them do credit checks. Since I don't have a case # yet but will very soon, how much should I disclose about my financial situation? I don't want to sound pitiful. I just want to start over.

Now that I'm in the throes of bankruptcy (which I never thought I would be in), I'm nervous about the outcome and what it will be like to get back on my feet. I am grateful that I got out of an abusive marriage, moved to a new place, found a job, and don't have kids yet. Count your blessings right?

if your attorney hasn't filed yet, then it would not come up in a credit check and you are not under any obligation to tell someone that you are about to file. if he has filed, then it will be on your credit report and you'd have to tell (or they would know from the report).

Most rental places seem to be much more BK friendly lately. Some aren't even doing credit checks... just checking your rental history and seeing if you make enough to qualify. At most they may make you pay a higher deposit.
