Meeting with two more attorneys this week!

I'm so excited to really get moving on this project! I am meeting with two more attorneys this week and am hoping to make a final decision by the end of the week!

I also had an independent appraisal done of the house, and we actually have much less equity than we thought (which is good, as we are trying to protect the house and have no intention of surrendering it). So, great for us, we can use those exemptions to now protect other assets! Excellent!

Thanks to all on this board for all your help!

Any ideas of questions to ask the attorneys? I want to make sure I cover all my bases!

I'm thinking of it as a project because of the amount of paperwork I've been trying to get together! That is, in fact, a major project! :-)

Sounds like you are doing your homework well.
But don't be fooled into signing with an attorney just because he tells you what you want to hear either.
I know people that have done that.

I had a list of questions to ask all the attorneys I consulted (consulted with 6).
A few that I can think of off hand (and that were important to me) were:

1). If I have questions, what is the best way to contact you?
2). Once I pay the retainer, can I sent my collection calls to your office?
3). Who will be preparing my petition and reviewing the final petition with me?
3). Who will be attending the 341 with me?
4). How soon after I turn in all the paperwork will my case be filed? You'd be surprised at this answer

There are lots of threads with good questions to ask...
Make sure you are well prepared when you go in for your consult!
