How long did it take for the creditors to stop calling?

I just filed today... I have generally just ignored all the collection calls, I've talked a couple and told them I'm filing and gave lawyer info. The rest I've just ignored but over the past week (past 15 day late mark on most) they've gotten really aggressive. I'm just wondering if I should anticipate even more calls "the day after" or if they just stop. I know I can answer if they do and give case number and that will stop them for sure...

I'm just curious of folks who have filed, how long did it take for the flood of calls to subside?

They should stop within a week. That's about the time you could expect a notice from the court to reach them.

When they call have your lawyer's name & number, district filed, chapter filed, filing date and case # handy to give them. Once informed that creditor should not call back again.

        my mailbox was empty yesterday!

I wish the automatic stay applied to all the debt solution companies who call me 20 times a day every day!

Man, I can't wait to get to that point.

I just logged into the phone system and removed the "block" on all of the calls that come in with no Caller ID. Now I look forward to talking to all of them so I can give them my bankruptcy information and send them on their merry way.. FOREVER.

Ours stopped before we even filed. Think they believed us when the lawyer talked to them. Either way, collection letters stopped shortly after filing. Now we get those horrible offers for high interest car loans!

Won't be long and it's nice going to the mailbox now, no more collection letters and when I see the sheriff car coming down the road, I'm not worrying they are headed here to serve us!

Please give details on the car loans and why they are so horrible! I am going to need a new car in the next 3 to 7 months and need to know what I am up against.

My mailbox was just as full after filing as before. Only instead of threatening letters from collection agencies it was filled with offers for credit to buy cars, get secured cards, etc. I think these companies are watching the bankruptcy filing lists pretty closely.

That's totally awesome. That show's that there is hope after bankruptcy and it's not the end of the world after you get file and get discharged.

I am looking forward to those offers. My concern is interest rates. Is everyone charging 24.99% interest or can you get deals in the low teen's at all? Like 13 or 14%?

I really couldn't tell you what the interest rates are on the offers. I shred them all without really doing more than looking at the pretty colors.

You should use the shreddings for kitty litter.

I'm not getting any calls now as it is and I am wondering why. I just filed last Friday. I know they couldn't have gotten the notifications that fast.

It's not electronic is it? Does the court mail physical letters to all of the people I am including in the bankruptcy?

The major banks are usually notified electronically, the rest receive paper versions.
