CitiFinancial has a "special" place in my heart. I had listed my dad as a reference. I didn't realise they only ask for references so they can have someone become another debt collector! The branch manager called my dad to talk about the "business matter" and then I got a phone call from my dad telling me "I need to pay my bills!!!!" My dad called back a day or two later to ask if I had called them like he had told me to do.

Nothing like having a dad for a loan collector that is not bound by any laws!

My blood boils anytime I drive by a CitiFinancial "branch".

I am getting calls regarding my brothers "11 day late" payment. I answered a couple of days ago. They wanted to know why my brother wasn't answering his phone. Hmmmm! I told them I don't know and that it's none of my dadburn business and hung up.

They called the next day, DH got it and told them he thinks he's in the Philippines trying to find his cheating wife. (Made up story, Brother loves his "faithful" wife).

They then called the next day. I guess they didn't believe DH. He told them not to call anymore and that they are formally being included in our "call blocker".

Brother got his first "11 day late" letter, then 2 days later received another one.

I'm helping brother get his paperwork together for a "hopeful" Chapter 7 to file in October.

Brother said he gets anywhere from 2 to 5 calls a day, just from CitiFinancial. (He has 2 landlines, homebased recessionized business, and a cell). I expect them to be at his door anyday as they are only 5 miles down the road.

I'm sure people remember "Fleet Finance". Same kind of outfit, however, those people would sit in their cars until you came home or left the house and then call you a thief in front of your neighbors.

Oh, well Brother has my spare call blocker unit, where no phone calls get through to the answering machine unless you allow them. Caller only hears constant ringing. Wish they had something like that for cell phones.

Hopefully, he can keep his sanity until he files.

Citifianancial sued me after being 90 days date late. I filed Ch13 the week before the first court appearance. I would take their "threats" serioulsy.

Right before I stopped payment on the CC's, I changed all the contact phone numbers to my home (land line phone which is only used for DSL). I then, hooked up a fax machine to that line. The fax machine prints out a report weekly of the incoming calls, and the list is extensive, however getting smaller. I suppose they get tired of the screeching they hear when they call. LOL!! However, I have not had to talk to a single one of the sharks. I sign my papers tomorrow.

              Just a idea...best of luck.

CitiFinancial's collection calls to me were initially from the local office, first one of their sales reps then finally the manager. The account was then transferred to the corporate office and they called a few times. The account was then transferred to another branch in another state. All I ever got from them was a letter or two. I haven't heard a peep from them in months.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick
