hypothetical question here. what if something was to happen to a fmily member and you are in there will to recieve property,money or whatever and they pass before your BK is discharged. will the trustee go after that? what if you get an inheritance shortly after discharge? not that Im in line to recieve any sort of inheritance..that I know of,just a question that came up while speeking with a friend about BK.

If you receive a windfall within 6 months of discharge you have to notify the trustee (through your lawyer). And yes they could reopen the case, declare there are assets available and send out money.May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer
July 2nd, 2007: 341 Meeting Held
September 4th, 2007: Discharged and Closed. -
It's within 180 days of filing-not discharge and there are only 3 events that need be reported.

right, it's not just any windfall. like if you win the lottery, there is no rule that tells you to report it.filed ch7 May 09
