Best Buy Credit and "secured" items of purchase

OK so my laptop broke, I don't know what I was thinking but it broke and I took it to Best Buy because I have the warranty on it. So I didn't have anything backed up and they wanted to sent it out for repair.

I filed my best buy card on my C7 and I am awaiting discharge. I am guessing wether in or out ok BK, with the credit card with the remainder of the purchase being discharged, if I give them my computer to fix I will probably not get it back, right? Anyone had this happen?

I guess I am just glad that I didn't give it to them, though they have never wrote to tell me to surrender my computer to them that I know of.

How long ago did you charge the laptop on the card?

If you need it fixed you might check a local computer repair shop, depending on the problem it may or may not cost much to fix.

Did they tell you what was wrong with it? If so I may be able to help walk you through the repairs or give you some advice. I am an electronics technician so I do this type of stuff every day. Warranties are very rarely worth the cost. I bought a 600 dollar tv and they wanted to sell me a waranty for 200 dollars.

I too have a background in this stuff. Kpower is right, you could get a "walk through" if the laptop is not a rock. However, if you have sensitive information on the machine, remove the hard drivel. Easy to do, one screw, slide in direction of screw while lifting gently up. Then send the unit in. They will have a hard drive they can fix it with on site. If you lose the laptop, a persons such as Kpower or I in your local area, can retrieve your info for you onto some other media. 'Hub

Personally I bought my laptop at Best Buy but I use a local guy for any problems. He's just as good, way faster and cheap.
