I filed for chapter 7 bk on June 15th, had our 341 meeting July 14th and all seems to be going well. I was just messing around on my computer and decided to see what creditors I still had online access to. Most have closed my access, but Chase allowed me to login. We had 5 cards with them, 4 had balances and 1 (with a $6000 limit) had a $0 balance. I didn't include the $0 balance card when I filled out the creditor matrix as I owed nothing and couldn't actually find the account number easily, figured it didnt matter anyway. We are discharging approx $20000 from chase and the four accounts that are in this are closed down, but the $6000 limit account is still showing as being open. Has anyone else seen this? Is this card somehow going to remain open through the bk? All my other $0 balance cards (citibank, etc) were closed as soon as I filed, even though they were not listed in the papers.

oblib, exactly the same thing happened to me.
then i got a letter from them asking to please cut up the card and mail it to them. i didn't bother. and then i got another letter about the same account saying that they realize life is hard so they are giving me 5 extra days to pay.
all this on a $0 balance card.
i didn't try to use the card so i don't know what would happen...filed ch7 May 09

Same thing with my chase account. I still have 2 cards with them that show as open with zero balances. I also have private student loans with them. They took away access for the other 2 cards that I had a balance on with them so, not sure why they are so lazy with the zero balance ones. I also don't see them on my credit report... but chase had been very lazy reporting my cards and even 1 of them that is in my bankruptcy is still not on my credit report.
My student loans were deferred before the bankruptcy so I am wondering now after the bankruptcy if I'll still be able to defer them.BK Ch 7 Discharged 09/2009 | Anything I say can and should be used as friendly advice and sharing of experiences with an unbiased viewpoint.

really? so you are seeing accounts on your credit report that were never there before and now they are there?
i haven't checked my credit report, but i was really hoping one of my creditors who never reported anything won't start now.
i don't really see the point for them of reporting accounts they never reported before. the original reporting is really one of many ways of collecting the debt. after it's discharged, what's the point?filed ch7 May 09

Yes, tons of things... if they were reporting to just 1 report they are now adding the accounts to the other reports as well. I guess they just wanna make sure I'm being negatively dinged everywhere.BK Ch 7 Discharged 09/2009 | Anything I say can and should be used as friendly advice and sharing of experiences with an unbiased viewpoint.

do you have any creditors who never reported to any credit report starting to report now? or is it just those who have reported before to at least one report? - the one creditor i am worried about actually never reported to anybody, ever.filed ch7 May 09
