I have a problem. I filed chapter 7 on June 9th and had my 341 on July the 10th. I have been monitoring my credit report to make sure all the accounts say included in BK. Yesterday the state of GA filed a $609.00 Tax Lien. Just when I thought the maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel. This happens. I was going to buy a car once my discharge papers came. I don't have a car. Now I am so screwed. I will be on the bus forever. I just had to vent.

Can you make payments on the tax amount? Tax offices have been known to work with folks on delq. taxes. It is worth asking. Don't give up......the light is still there waitng for you...you just have to navigate around obstacles from time to time. (I know it can seem like ALL of the time!) See if they will work with you and set a payment plan that you can work with AND still work towards your car purchase. Good Luck!!CH 7 Filed 6/26/09

I know everyone hates those "Buy here, pay here" places, but personally have bought my last 2 cars at one. The interest rate was killer but I was able to pay a reasonable payment and the cars were paid off in 2 1/2 years. The trick is to find a reputable one that will work with you.CH 7 Filed 6/26/09

Your still in an active bankruptcy proceeding and Georgia filed a lien? Did they file for relief of stay and get permission to do so?
If you have an attorney I trust you have contacted him and let him know about this. In the end a state tax won't go away but while your in active bankruptcy they can't make any attempt to collect the debt from you until after your case is closed or they file a motion or relief and get permission to do so.3/2/09- Filed: chapter 7 / No asset
4/1/09- 341 Hearing: 1 creditor showed up Got to love family feuds
4/2/09- Trustee Report of No Distribution Filed

If you have to resort to this then open a bank account with a local bank or CU and 2 years after you made the car purchase with the high rate, see if your bank or CU will refi the car at a better rate. Chances are they will.
It worked for me anyway.
You did good with 2 1/2 years payoff. That is hard to do with the high interest rates these places offer. The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of Government

Hate to dig this up but I saw the OP was still active on the forum and wondered if the tax lien was ever reversed or in some other way dealt with.3/2/09- Filed: chapter 7 / No asset

Ok but was the lien was placed while you were in active bankruptcy which is a violation of the automatic stay.
Did the motion the court for a relief of stay? Not saying you could have gotten rid of the tax debt but you could get some cash in your pocket for them violating a federal court order.3/2/09- Filed: chapter 7 / No asset
