presumably, if you stopped paying on them then you also stopped charging on them. so those statements will show nothing but the current balance, which should be on your credit report anyway.
Exactly! I haven't charged anything on any cards since maybe October or November of last year.

The only credit card I have now is a Shell gas card which I use and then pay the balance off in full.

If the UST gets involved, he wont care about how difficult it'll be for you to get the statements, he'll just want them. I filed my bk petition, got a letter 2 weeks later from the UST and had 30 days to get 2 years of statements. Luckily I was prepared ahead of time and had most of them ready. My attorney told me that if I didn't produce the statements (or at least a good portion of them) the UST would have dismissed my case.

Then I guess I will be totally screwed. It will be impossible for me to furnish those statements. I trashed them all a LONG time ago. And most of those cards I stopped paying on years ago. Some of the creditors I am filing for were from the 1990's!!!

Well then I guess just wait and see if they ask for them. It was easy for me to get them cause my accounts were still open right up until I filed.

I pay online and have 12 months from current back of statements for all the CC accounts, is that enough or is there a chance my attorney, the TT or even the UST would want to see more?
I have all receipts/statements going back 8 years.

The Attorney did not ask for any CC statements.
He asked for 07/08 tax returns, year to date adjusted gross, and a W-2.

I'd be screwed if the UST asked me for credit card statements back to 2 years as well... I am very adament about not keeping papers I don't need and stuff and I have never kept statements or bills from my creditors. I paid them and got rid of them. Most of which I opt'd not to receive mail copies of.

Yep... that pretty much explains me!

I had no idea I was going to be filing bankruptcy. How did I know I was supposed to be keeping copies of all of this stuff for years to come?

debtmonster, i am sure you can request the statements. i once called citibank to request statements going back 9 years and they just mailed them to me, no questions asked.

so for your own protection, you should dig up your thousands of creditors (ok, dozens...), call each of them and ask for statements going 2 years back. start now 'cause it's going to take you a while! since you have a huge debt (if i remember correctly) you should be safe rather than sorry.

I am in the same situation. I dont have any statements and stoped paying charging anything on my accounts in Dec of 08. Some havent been used since 05 but it would be impossible for me to provide 2 years statement, much less the current one in some situations.

I am discharging about 180k in credit card debt.

Man, I wish I could discharge $180k in credit cards. I didn't go on any nice vacations or anything for all the debt I have. Everything was for necessities.

Its crazy how fast everything can get out of hand. We used our credit cards to the tune of 70k to remodel our house. Which we planned to refinance to include that 80k and pay off the cards. Well the market died and that didnt happen. Then once we started falling behind we used cards to pay for cards and such for about 8-10 months which added atleast another 35-40k alone.

It was about 125k when I stopped paying but with interest fees and penalties it has added about another 35k in the past 6-9 months.

Yep... I was in a similar boat. But I didn't go all hog wild. We had a newer home and I replaced all of the appliances to stainless steel once the fridge and dishwasher weren't doing a good job. I had a cap of $14,000 on a 2nd mortgage. That got maxed out quick. I had to buy a water filter system for over $2,000 since we have well water and it was ruining all of our appliances. I also owed like $4,000 to the IRS. The interest and penalties were too high, so I ended up paying the IRS with money from the 2nd mortgage since it was cheaper.

I didn't even want to go bankrupt. Then tons of people on here started ragging hard on me telling me that I was a fool and I needed to go and get this done. So I did what everyone on here told me to do. I just can't wait for the file date so I can change my signature at the bottom of my messages to show a file date. That would be sweet!

Hopefully in August I will have my official file date!! That will be my first celebration of a couple more as long as I can get discharged.

We bought a foreclosed house for 200k in bad shape which if fixed up would appraise for 350k. We then planned to refinance to include the amount we put into it and pay off the cards. We were stupid and went crazy and put 80k into it in about 3 months. The house looked awesome but because the market died we couldnt get refinanced and we were stuck with cc payments. Once the intro 0% rate ran out we tried to stay afloat thinking things would get better but they didnt.

So yes we screwed ourselves.. We are living in an apt now and will do things much different next time around.
