I am looking to file chapter 7 but the few lawyers i've spoken to arent on the same page and are on 2 different ends of the field. I am wanting to go to a 3rd, does anyone have a good reference for one in the houston area?
Hi icyjay01: Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately forum rules won't allow members to make recommendations on the public side. However, members are free to send you a private message (PM) with a recommendation.
One member, when looking for a reputable attorney, called the clerk of the BK Court in her district and asked for a list of recommendations. Her reasoning was that these people deal with these attorneys every day of the week and know which ones are prepared, professional, and cause the least amount of disruption to the clerk's office. Likewise, they also know which attorneys are rude, arrogant, ill-prepared, late getting paperwork in, or are just plain unpleasant to deal with. Chances are that if the the attorney disrespects the clerk's office personnel, they aren't going to treat the client any better. You will more than likely get a list of names of people that the clerks like to work with.
Another option is the call the State Bar and ask for a list of recommendations from them.
Good luck to you.
If I knew it all, would I be here??Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.
