    !! Discharged !! Wooo Hoooo!

    Two weeks over my sixty days but I have been discharged as of yesterday!
    I would say my BK went about flawless without a hitch.

    West Michigan BK7

    I would like to thank everyone that helped me and for everyone that have posted all the information. I think I was better prepared then anyone at my 341 and my attorney was impressed with how much knowledge I had.

    When I turned in everything to her to file she said I had the most complete and accurate information she had ever gotten from a client. And when I was interviewing attorneys I had the right questions, and had the information they needed to give me the right answers to my questions.

    I was well over the median income and has several other sometimes show stoppers. But because I was so prepared it went very well.

          Congrats on being discharged........

          I am from Mi too..sterling heights and considering J***** R**** from MT clemens as my attorney. Have not met him yet.

          If its not too much of a problem can you pls suggest a attorney in the detroit area or rather the one who represented you and your approximate expenditure in completing this process.

            5/09 UST now involved no idea what happens next
            7/09 UST has decided to withdraw his motion to dismiss!
            7/27/09 DISCHARGED!!!

                She had the same values we had. Conservative, and was honest with us about how things looked. I gave her a complete financial history and everything she needed to evaluate where we were at. I told her that if she thought for one second we would end up Chapter 13 that I needed to know because we were not prepared to go that route at the time.

                She told me if we were not a Chapter 7 or that she thought they would push us towards a 13 she would tell us. We were very honest about our assets, expences and income. That was the only way we could know for sure she was telling us where we would fall based off of facts.

                She was completely comfortable that we would have no issues. And she was correct. I had one I interviewed that wanted to be retained before running through everything I had to determine if I was a 7 or a 13. Off my income that attorney said you will probably fall into a 13. i created a spread sheet in MS Excel that show debt, income and expences and gave it to every attorney I interviewed. They all had the information they needed to tell me what they thought.

                Final factor was she only did BK and only in West Michigan. She had the knowledge of what the trustee and the judge liked and did not like and what was pushing it and etc. I went into the 341 with actual garage sale/ IRS values of everything and the trustee could tell I would be able to back everything. He was impressed with the personal appraisal of my guns with supporting documents.

                Bottom line. We were prepared.

                Thank you very much for the Hampsters AngelinaCatHub! I deliberately have not watched anyone else's hampsters because I wanted it to be sweet when it was my turn. And sweet it was!

                  Mine was in Western District. My personal opinion is to get an attorney that specializes in BK and in your district. One that has done it for a while so they know everyone and have seen different cases and what has went well and what has went poorly.

                  Right now most Law Firms are not doing other typical work because in a down economy people do not spend money on wills, trust and such and tend not to divorce because they can not afford it. So there is a ton of attorneys doing BK now that normally dont do a bunch of them. Make sure the attorney you get has their own experience doing BK not a partner or another attorney in the firm. Make sure that is the person filing your paper work, talking to the trustee, going to the 341 and etc.

                  Make a couple followup calls. See how responsive they are. You have to call them back several times before getting a responce, then probably the same throuought your case. Of course they do respond better when the get your fee.

                      Congratulations!!!

                      I know the feeling. Our life has been so much less stressful since receiving our discharge.
