i have been living in the same apt for almost 4 years now with roommates-not once have we been late with rent--i am wondering when renewing the lease at the end of the year if they recheck credit (and see the bk) and if / how this may affect me? thanks for any feedback!

if you have always been on time with rent, i see no reason for any landlord to spend time and money getting a credit check on you. the landlord knows your history with him and that's all that should matter. credit checks are usually done for people whom the landlord does not know.filed ch7 May 09

Do not just leave and stop paying rent. This will negatively affect your credit rating and your chances of finding good housing in the future.Do not assume your roommate will cover your share of the rent or finding a new roommate as soon as you go. If your name appears on the lease, it is your responsibility to ensure that their share of the rent is paid.Comment

If you have been there for 4 years and always pay on time, they have no motivation to check your credit just to try to get rid of you.
