I guess a 40-something man having multiple master's degrees from institutions such as LSU & Georgia Tech is just not worth anything these days.

I guess with zero income, I should be able to file Chapter 7 with no problem.
I feel your pain man, and believe me there are still days where I feel like we will never really recover especially emotionally.

Good luck finding something, I am surprised you are having so much trouble. There aren't many better places in the country right now than New Orleans economy wise.

They filed the re-affirmation agreement on my primary residence. Now they set up another hearing for it. Is there anyway to call the court and have them do both things at one hearing, or do I have to attend both?

The one for my car is on October 28 and the one for my house is November 18.

If you do not have an attorney, i would think you have to attend both. You may want to write a letter to the judge requesting these at the same time, all he can say is no.

I have an attorney but she said she is probably not going to be there. I have no idea what to expect in the morning, so I will just wing it.

I guess I can ask the judge tomorrow about the other hearing.

I had to reaffirm my car, and it is absolutely nothing. It is not like a 341 at all. It takes about a minute.
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under

Yeah it took about 2 or 3 minutes. He asked some questions and he had denied one right before us (like 3 cases before) because the guy wanted to re-affirm a $21K debt at $640 a month on a 2006 Buick. The judge was cracking us all up. He said for him to just keep making payments and they won't come get it and he told the guy if they do come get it that he was better off!

He did not want to do ours either but when I explained our situation he warmed a bit. He asked why we wanted to do this and I was honest in saying that I felt like Ford was requiring me to. He seemed to agree with this (obviously he knows Ford does pretty much require it) and made a comment to the attorney representing Ford. After that he approved it.

We have to go back for the house on November 18.

We survived the re-affirmation hearings for the only two things we kept, which were our primary residence and the one car.

Today was the last day for objection and there was nothing filed with today's date as of checking the PACER site five minutes ago.

                Hopefully, discharge is coming soon!!!

Nothing yet....I guess with Thanksgiving the actual discharge might not get filed until next week. The good news (I think) is that the date for objections has passed and there were none!
