Co- signed a student loan, ...

can I call this an expense ?

My lawyer didn't know, he said he will make a call. It means the difference between a 7 and a 13 for me.

The loan can't be discharged, and I am still liable for the payments if the student defaults.

Are you paying the bill at this time?

      Nope.

But is an obligation that can't be discharged.

However believe it or not its not an allowed expense in some areas. I hope your area allows the expense.

There is a place to list in the schedules loans I think you have co signed for, you might ask your lawyer if you need to amend those.

If your not paying it, it is not an expense. And even if you were, you generally cannot take student loan payment on your budget.
