    Bought a MidBankruptcy Car

1997 Ford Thunderbird LX, 103k miles, not so pretty on the outside, really faded paint and a dent on the driver's side.

On the plus side, I paid $1,600 including tax, tag transfer, title.

I called the CU to find out when they want the Jeep and they just said to wait until their motion for relief from stay is lifted then they will call me to arrange pickup.

Tell the credit union you are dropping the insurance on the Jeep effective such and such a date and they will either want it or come and get it quick to protect their interests due to it being uninsured.
And if you have plates that can transfer or you can get credit for them pull them and transfer or get a refund on them.

We ended up parking the '05 Grand Am we were giving up, months before they actually filed a motion for relief and finally came and got it. It had a cracked windshield so wouldn't pass safety inspection, hence we couldn't renew the registration... we weren't about to pay to fix a car we weren't keeping.

When they came and got it the tags were long since expired, and insurance had long since stopped. I'm pretty sure they drove it away; if it was illegal, it wasn't our problem. Of course, we do have off-street parking- it might have been different if we left it at the curb that long.

I talked to them yesterday. In Florida, you have 30 days to add a new car to insurance. I have a temp tag on the new(old car) pending transfer. I need to do a couple of things to the new(old) car before I can drive it daily. It has really old/cracked tent that I need to get removed. It is making visibility a problem and I can't roll the windows up and down all the way because the crinkled tint makes it stick.

Other than that, the new(old) car is good to go. I'm going to drive the jeep until they want it back.
