    Car Appraisal

Hi all, have my 341 scheduled for next Friday.

The trustee requested additional documents such as tax returns and bank statements through my filing date (my accounts had not closed until then).

The trustee has also requested an appraisal of my car.

If the appraisal is above Florida's $1,000 vehicle exemption, will I be allowed to pay the difference between the value and $1,000, to keep my car?

    Thanks,

    David

More details would help I think.
You can't use the $4000 wildcard?
    Do you have an attorney?

My attorney told me today that if the trustee values my car more than exemptions I can pay the difference to keep it.

Make sure you get a certified licensed vehicle appraisal service. Should cost around $150.

      details:

I am using the $1,000 personal exemption not the $4,000 because I have a property exemption being used.

Yes, I do have an attorney, she didnt say anything, just that they need an appraisal. Granted, I havent asked yet, but thought I would ask here first.

I an appraisal scheduled for tomorrow, its about $160. The guy told me there is no way, the value of my car would be under $1,000 so I thought I could just pay the difference and be on my merry way.

If, I can pay the difference that would be good

      Thanks.

Sure, you can pay the difference and keep it no problem.
