Just like those people who refuse to use Amsoil, you are sadly, one of those other misinformed people.

At least it will be easier to tow away the tiny wreckage.

Tow away? Put it in your pocket and carry it home!

            That's another good point.

I can't wait until the Scion IQ and Chevy Spark comes out. We need a ton of micro cars to compete with the fortwo. SUV's should be outlawed. People managed to get by without them in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. It would be nice if they could repeat all that in the 2010's.

I'm going to buy the Scion IQ instead.

I bet that gets good gas mileage but I don't think it would stand up to an impact with 1/2 ton pickup. That would scare me.
4/09 Converted to a Ch 7 due to loss in dh's income
5/09 UST now involved no idea what happens next
7/09 UST has decided to withdraw his motion to dismiss!
                7/27/09 DISCHARGED!!!

I'm going to Vegas to place a bet you don't end up with a Scion or any other new car.

Someone tell DM the model in the picture doesn't come with the car.

So if I get t-boned in a Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Saturn Ion, Toyota Tercel or any small car like that, I stand more of a chance, even though the distance from my shoulder to the outside of the car is the same distance in all of these cars along with the smart car? Where none of those cars have roll cages designed by the Formula 1 race team. Last time I noticed, many of those small Formula 1 race cars could crash at 180-200 MPH and the person would walk out without a scratch.

There are MILLIONS of cars like this on the road right at the very moment:
Toyota Prius2004-06 modelsSIDE IMPACT TEST WITHOUT OPTIONAL SIDE AIRBAGSOVERALL EVALUATION: Poor Injury measures Head protection Structure/safety cageHead/n...

So I am better off with something like that instead of a smart?

                      smart crash

Your best option is to simply pay attention and just not crash. That's usually been a good option for me and all of my family for generations.

I had a car bigger than that that did not even stand up to a deer running out in front of me. My car was totalled and at 5 months pregnant I was a nervous wreck. I'll never again drive something that small. It just doesn't look safe at all.

Don't crash into deer. Drive the speed limit. I did it all the time! I lived in a place where there are TONS and TONS of deer for miles in any direction.

I could understand you being a nervous wreck. That would suck. But the simple solution is to not mess with your radio, don't talk on cell phones, drive the speed limit and always maintain your vehicle. If I can go 700,000 miles without ever getting into an accident by using these methods, anyone can. Just do what I do.

                          Some of my other recommendations:

                          - Don't buy cars that don't have side air bags or air bags for the passengers in the rear of a sedan
                          - Don't buy cars that have timing belts - only buy ones with a chain
                          - Don't buy cars that don't have ABS
                          - Don't buy cars that don't come with stability control
                          - Don't buy cars that sway a lot in the turns. Try to stick with German cars to avoid this
                          - At 100,000 miles, try to make it a habit of changing all of the rubber hoses on the engine so you don't get left stranded
                          - Always change the fluid in your radiator at regular intervals (the fluid also acts as a lubricant for the water pump, not just to keep the engine cool.)
                          - Always use Amsoil if you drive more than 12,000 miles per year because all other oils cost more money and offer less protection
                          - Don't let people distract you when driving
                          - Don't drive intoxicated with any alcohol or medicine, EVER
                          - Don't drive slow in the left lane
                          - If people are tailgating you, go faster and move to a position to allow them to pass and then resume your legal speed after you move back into your previous position

Right why didn't I think of that? I was driving the speed limit looking straight ahead both hands on the steering wheel when the deer darted out of the woods and was in front of me before I could stop.

That is awful. They need to pass a law making it illegal for deer to do that. I would be royally pissed off... exactly like when people run stop signs or red lights. That infuriates me.

Okay, I'll buy the Honda Fit. Going to the dealer right now to go test drive one.

Well, they passed a law here. They put up yellow signs, with 35 MPH and "Caution: Deer Crossing". So I guess the deer have the right of way in my area!
