    Wildcard Exemption...NC

Am filing jointly and was told that we have a Wildcard Exemption we can use of $5000. Would that be $5000 between the two of us each of us have one?

    Thanks!

Depends on the state you live in and whether the state has their own exemptions or federal exemptions. In NE, it's joint. Per head is 2400.

I believe it's" $5000 per spouse and an additional $1000 per dependent that can be used to protect household goods" is what my uncle told me.

From what I understand it is 5000.00 per joint filer, 1000.00 per dependent up to 4.

So in my case, filing jointly with DW, with 5 kids we'd get 5K per spouse and 1K per child, 4 of them... So we have 14,000.00 total.

I'm in the western district in NC...

Sorry, I just reread the OP.

For Wildcard, it is 5000.00 per filer for a max of 10,000.00. I was thinking of the household goods exemption in my previous post.
